Old Jameson Distillery

Once one of the largest and finest Distilleries in the world, The Old Jameson Distillery in the heart of Dublin was originally built in 1780.

Now restored to its former glory, a guided tour of the distillery is the most authentic way to experience the true spirit of Ireland.

The journey begins with an introductory video entitled “Uisce Beatha”, the Irish word for whiskey, which translated means “The Water of Life.” Then you will discover the less widely known aspects of whiskey making. Such as, during distillation, what is the “Angel’s Share”? Finally the journey will end on a high note with a visit to the Jameson Bar and the premier in whiskey tasting experiences.

After your tour, relax in the Still Room Restaurant over lunch, or pick up that Jameson Branded Gift in the Gift Shop.

A full range of duty paid whiskeys are also available, along with 12 year old ‘Jameson Distillery Reserve’ – exclusive to The Old Jameson Distillery, and a true collector’s item.

Old Midleton Distillery

The Old Midleton Distillery, located on the Main Street of Midleton town, East Cork, is just 18 Kilometers from Cork City on the N25 Cork–Waterford road. The important industry of distilling began here in 1825, and ceased in 1975 when a new distillery, on an adjacent site, took over.

The buildings on the 10 acre site were refurbished and opened as a major Irish whiskey visitor centre called The Old Midleton Distillery in 1992. Visitors learn the Story of Irish Whiskey. They can view the lovingly restored stone buildings which house some magnificent artifacts of the Industrial Age: including a 40 foot Water Wheel, an original stationary Steam Engine, a charming steam-powered fire engine, and best of all the largest Pot Still in the world, with a capacity of 33,000 gallons (150,000 litres). The visitor centre is open 7 days per week, all year from 10am to 6pm, with the last tour commencing at 5pm (Nov. to Feb. tours at 11.30, 14.30 & 16.00).

An admission charge applies which permits guests to enjoy an audio-visual show, available in 7 languages, a guided tour through the Old Distillery, and a tutored whisk(e)y tasting session.

While on site, why not visit the fine restaurant (open daily), the large Jameson gift shop selling many brands of Irish Whiskey, and a range of Jameson gift items.
